A Fresh Twist
Reviewed by displonker on August 09, 2008 | report this review
Just before I bought this game, I was getting frustrated at the unbelievable limits of all the games out there. (For some reason I was playing tomb raider, where your climbing abilities only venture as far as.. jumping... Literally...) I have to say I was frustrated at the large blue screen that cut off parts of the world earlier in the game.. It took me out of the mood, but sort of necessary in some ways.
Anyway, to the pros.
I absolutely loved the fighting in this game..You don't HAVE to just defend and hit, nor do you have to sit and wait there, for your opponent to hit and you to counter. It let's you feel much more like you are actually in control, when you click for him to do something, and he.. ACTUALLY does it.. This game has a new perspective of freeroaming that no other has yet.
However.. The enemies became easy as I progressed, and I was slaughtering at least groups of 20 in a matter of seconds, which would seem cool, but gets boring. The fights only once again became interesting for the final boss and the earlier one.
Yet, I still loved this game, and it drove me to keep playing until I had as much as I was willing to do in a game, done. If you are looking for a game that can keep you interested for a while, this is a great choice.

Time Your Attacks
Hint by displonker on August 09, 2008 | report this hint
Most people forget about the training at the beginning of the game, in which when you attack, push x again directly at the point of the swords impact, and there you have an instant kill, just like that of a counter. I find that sitting there and countering has sometimes led to someone pulling back and shooting with a bow, which can lead to problems. Keep the guards interested by attacking them back, but be careful as they can sometimes - rarely - counter your attacks. (It only removes one bar of sync, don't worry.)
