good game
Reviewed by blueman11879 on February 11, 2007 | report this review
This game is a life simulation. You begin off by traveling to a town and starting a new life. You interact with the NPC's, and can fish, catch bugs, grow crops, dig up fossils, and dozens of other activities for fun and earning money in the game. The game's real time clock is a cool feature. When it's night outside, the game makes it night in the game using the Gamecube's internal clock. You can get gifts on your birthday (and don't cheat by skipping ahead...you won't get very good gifts, because the NPCs will think you neglected them for months).
You can design your own clothes (using a system similar to Mario Paint's stamp design program...very interactive and simple to use) and write letters to the NPCs or others sharing the same town with you (four people can live in a town at the same time, and the NPC's will tell you about what the other players have done...very fun in a gossipy sort of way). You can also travel to another player's town, or trade with friends (or anonymous strangers you meet online) using a unique password system.
All in all, it's a fun game, and there seems like a ton to do, but some people might find the game gets boring after a while. I work during the day, and unless I fool around with the clock, I can only when it's night tme in the game. Less bugs to catch, less NPCs awake, etc. But, I still can enjoy the game. There is limited action, and only loosely defined goals, but I enjoy simulation games like this, and as always Nintendo makes a top notch project.
A few last things before a score breakdown, you can find and play old NES games in Animal Crossing. Same old graphics and sound, but a ton of fun. The game requires an entire memory card, but a memory card is included with the game when you buy it (this memory card includes some bonuses including some NES games).
True Game

This game is a true role playing game. You are playing as a character whose's name you pick to be. You then get a house and a brand new job. The job is easy to do. All you pretty much do is doing yard work for your boss. I also haven't been deep into the game, I'd say about a day or two into it without saving. It seems like a regular ordinary game but its really not. It has the best role playing action because it cooperates so much with real life stuff execpt the characters and towns.
long replay value

Take Control of an Animal

Animal Crossing is a fun game... for the first week. After working for the guy that owns your house and the only store in the town. It slowly goes down hill. The price of your house goes up and the ways to get money go down. When you get the house you have to pay 19,800 "bells", it is not that much compared to the last remodleing which is 798,000 " Bells". It is not so easy when you are broke from the forth remoldeling. If you have a lot of time and patience then get it. If you don't have time but patience then... mabye. If you have no patience then forget it.
Good for awhile

This game was good for awhile. I mean you owned your own house and you could model it any way u want it to. I always put fish in my house (because i wanted a fish for a pet) and tried to play the without cheats. I always try to make my house the best and, since my brothers play, I always visit their houses.

This game is possibly the best and most fun 40+ hour game. You can play this game for 30 every 3 days or 3 hours every day, and you will never get tired of it, as long as you know what to do. you can do so much with this game, and there are so many secrets to be discovered. there is no real goal, and you never lose, yet this game is so much better than any other sim game i have every played. In this game, there is more than just feeding your sim and paying bills and making a house. (like in the traditional The Sims). Plus this game is monthly, weekly, and yearly events.

My Reason of playing

This game was actually for my sister when we were younger (she was 13). One day i came in the living room and she was playin the classic original Donkey Kong. I was shocked when I found out and decided to check on forums to see what else the game had in store. I learned about all the Mario, Star fox, and Zelda collectibles to store in your house and the original Mario and Zelda games. Being the zelda fanatic that I am, I "moved" in, went through the long tedious process of expanding my house, 2nd floor, basement, etc. Eventually my sis got a Super Mario Bros game and set it up for 95,000 bells. -.- so I paid it and had my rush down memory lane with that. Soon after, a friend came over with an Action Replay and we used it to deck out my house with Nintendo and the basement with nothing but NES games. The AC gameplay alone is good, too. You can plant trees, flowers, and fruit, catch a good variety of bugs & both saltwater & freshwater fish, collect famous paintings (yes, even the Mona Lisa) among several other historical artifacts (my favorite being the Mouth of Truth). You can design patterns for your clothes, signs, your door, your walls & floor, and hell even your umbrella. You can buy/earn/find all kinds of furniture to furnish your home. The town has a 'town tune' and you can send letters/packages to the other townspeople (which by the way are random cartoonish animals that can ALL walk on their hind legs and talk gibberish). Sometimes you can even customize their street slang (mine call me piss pants, f***er, and kurn). But what really got me hooked was the original, classic, fully-functional NES games that you can play ALL you want. For free. No need to download em to your Nintendo Wii :)
My rating

so my overall rating - 5 stars. definitely a Nintendo milestone. I hope they design the Wii version to be like the Cube version, NOT the DS. YOU HEAR THAT, NINTENDO??
