Game Description

Initially believed to be a fully developed puzzle game based on the 100 Marios demo shown at GameCube's unveiling, the title was actually supposed to be a true installment in the Mario action/platformer franchise. Rumored to be the true sequel to Nintendo 64 blockbuster Super Mario 64 (with the "100 Marios" concept of controlling hundreds of animated characters finding its home in the gardening-inspired Pikmin), Nintendo representatives had given little insight into Mario 128 over its many years of unanswered anticipation. In 2006, Shigeru Miyamoto finally confirmed that the project was no more, and that bits and pieces of the concept had evolved into the Wii title Super Mario Galaxy.
