Kameo: Elements of Power
Horrible on December 17, 2007
When I first got my Xbox 360 a year ago at Christmas, I figured I couldn't just have sports game so I decided to buy another game to go along with NBA Live 2006, FIFA and NHL 2k6. I chose Kameo because it was receiving rave reviews and said to myself, well the whole world can't be wrong right? FIFA was a total dud and NBA Live was the game I considered the worst on the Xbox 360, but then I played this game... either the whole world has a completely different idea of what a good game is or I'm simply a moron.
Graphics 6/10
Breathtaking at times, crappy at others. The game seems to be better looking during big battles with all the soldiers and the baddies, or when you can see the scenary. The Kameo character herself isn't that well designed and actually kinda looks like a character you would see on Reboot ( damn I hated that show). All the different creature concepts are ok but I've never seen a wimpier looking dragon in my life.
Music/Sound 6/10
Meh... it didn't impress me but I wasn't annoyed by the music or the sound effects. In fact, when I play this game ( which now is...never) I usually upload my own music so I don't really care about this game's audio track.
Gameplay 5/10
I really hated the controls for this game. The attacks buttons were usually the shoulder buttons and you would transform Kameo using the B,X and Y buttons. In the heat of the action, I would always mistakenly transform my character in to another creature because I would always assume my attack button was the B button.
Fun-Factor (Replay ability) 0/10
Not once while I was playing this game did I think: " Aw...man I don't really want to finish it because it's just so darn good" All I was thinking was... " The creators of this game should all be rounded up, put in a room and forced to play this game 24/7 until each of them died". Still I played it all the way to the end thinking it would get better... it didn't. The only way I could see myself playing this game again is if a very large man with a tear tatooed below his face threatened to kill me if I didn't play it with him. Even then, I'm not sure I wouldn't choose to die, a game like this won't be certainly won't be admitted into the after-life ( if there is such a thing).
Conclusion
I miss the glory days when Rare made good games like Donkey Kong. I think it might actually be Donkey Kong who designed this game. After playing this, I think I wouldn't mind listening to all the Backstreet Boys albums back to back, at least then I might learn a thing or to about how to dance like a idiot. 2.75/10 I would even give NBA Live 2006 a better rating than this bomb. So remember if somebody ever asks you if you want to play Kameo with them, do them a favor take the game disc and just snap it in half.

Guitar Hero II
So Addicting, this game is awesome on August 07, 2007
So I had the original guitar hero for PS2. I loved that game and as soon as the 2nd one came out I was itching to buy it but I did not have the money. Afterwards a 360 version was announced and I was like "OMG WTF DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT!!! ON LINE MULTI PLAYER" However of these I was kinda disappointed but read on to find out.
This game is a huge improvement over the first iteration. Hammer ons and pull offs are MUCH EASIER to do from the first one. There are also much more songs. This version for 360 is also a small improvement over the Play Station 2 version. There are ten more songs exclusive to the Xbox version. The graphics are better, crisper, shinier and look very nice on my LCD TV.
I actually like the songs from Guitar Hero 2 than the first one but this game has songs for many tastes. There are fewer classic rock songs but the newer songs are great. The game also features songs much challenging than the first one. Songs like Six, Jordan and Freebird are almost damn near impossible for a normal human to beat it on expert. Although I've beaten Six, and Freebird Jordan is almost impossible.
A reason I've docked a point off is because of the challenge. I'm really good at the game but on some songs the jump from medium to hard and hard to expert is just too much. I have no trouble beating Jordan in hard but it's just too much on expert so an inexperienced player may be scared off and just quit the game.
The Xbox 360 version features a new guitar the Gibson X-Plorer. Now when I saw it I thought it'd be better than the Gibson PS2 SG. It looks cooler and I like it better when playing standing up but when sitting down on boring songs one of the edges jabs into my arms. Also, some of the original guitars came defective with the whammy bars. Apparently there are 2 kinds of guitars and the way to distinguish the good ones from the bad ones are where the Ethernet port is located. If it's next to the headset jack you got a good one if it's in the bottom then it's most likely defective. There's also a way to tell them apart from a number in the box. I, unluckily got the faulty one and the whammy bar feels kind of loose and not very whammish. They should have at least tested the guitars before releasing the game.
The game also offers downloadable songs in the future which is an awesome idea. Another pretty great thing is a leader board function. While pretty nice it doesn't make up the fact there's no on line multi player or co-op play although lag could have ruined it
Guitar Hero 2 for the Xbox 360 is a great game and so far the best rhythm game ever made. Is tons of fun and co-op with friends locally is great. It also has achievements for Experienced player. You may want to wait until this guitar whammy bar problem is fixed to purchase this game. For those who have it keep on rocking.
SO MUCH BETTER THAN ROCK BAND
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (Game of the Year Edition)
No regrets about this game! on August 07, 2007
Ok, this is my favorite game. I got it in January of last year and never played it. I started playing it back in March and became obsessed. It owned my soul for a whole summer. All day I would play Morrowind and discover new and interesting things and people. This was my introduction into the Elder Scrolls series. It gets the job done in getting me hooked.
Controls: 10/10
This games controls are decent. It is really simple. Only about 6 buttons are actually used. Anyone could figure it out as soon as they played the game. Many functions are actually put on to more than one button.
Graphics: 10/10
When I first got this game I found the graphics to be amazing. I was surprised they would be that good in such an epic game. The water is amazing when you see the suns reflection in it. Once you get into the frozen island of Solsteim you will see the graphics get even better too. That's about where the graphics end though. The rest of it is kind of block like and average. Since I have this game on Xbox and not computer, I don't really know how good the graphics can be. The draw distance on Morrowind was not the best. You usually see a foggy world and a building or object seems to appear right in front of you.
Gameplay: 10/10
I don't know how I love this game so much. The gameplay is somewhat repetitive in how you fight. You swing your weapon with the right shoulder button and you can have 3 different attacks. The size of this game makes up for all of the flaws. The world is massive. I don't know exactly how big it is, but you will play the game and see something new every single time you play it. I didn't even do the main quest until I was playing the game for 3 months. The world is too interesting and needs to be explored.
Sound: 10/10
This game instantly gets 10/10 for its main title theme. That song is addicting. I find myself whistling the song often when I go out. The rest of the games music is decent. The battle music is somewhat bland and uninteresting.
Story: 10/10
This games story is really good. What makes it so good is how hidden it is from the rest of the world. You will hear about the events of the main quest sometimes when you talk to Non Player Characters. I didn't even know the game had a main quest until I had played it for 3 months. That is what makes this game so astounding. In real life you don't have everything given to you. You have to go out and find out information. This game does a real good job in being life like sometimes.
The world: 10/10
This game has the most interesting world I have ever seen. One major flaw with the world is how dark and depressing it is most of the time. It is meant to be, but I usually like a more bright and cheerful world. It does make it more life like. At least where I live it is somewhat like Vvardenfell. The world is massive though. You could spend a whole year playing this game and you would still find new items and dungeons. As much as I have played the game. I don't thin
Need for Speed Most Wanted
I usually don't even like racing games. on August 07, 2007
Now for the most part I will be comparing this based on Need for speed: Underground 2, which is an AMAZING game which I recommend everyone to play, or at least try.
GRAPHICS: 9/10
The first thing you see, the graphics. In this game they are near perfection, not cartoony, really smooth, clear, and detailed. Although the people in this game are really strange looking, the cars look amazing, and you can customize them pretty well, but I'll talk about that later. I never really saw the frame rate drop at all. A nice, although pointless feature in this game are the photos after a race, you can't save them or anything, but after you win a race, there's a photo taken of your car in the game, and if there was a cop behind you just as you finished the race, then you will see a cop there. Kinda weird to explain but I like it. And one last thing is when you challenge a boss (or whatever), you get a cool cutscene where you or they do some crazy stunt of some sort, or at least come in with style right before you race.
STORY: 6/10
Okay, so the story is.... lacking to say the least, but no one plays a racing game for a good story, do they? Basically you get owned and the guy takes your car and is apparently the best driver around now. Anyway, your whole existence in the game is evidentley to get your car back, not earn money, a reputation, or anything else. Just to get your car. Then you get stupid calls to advance the story. Although the rest of the story fails, I really thought the idea of racing a bunch of races and adding up your bounty to progress through each level of the blacklist, which is a list of all the best racers around. Also it is literally black, with white chalk writing. What's the deal with that?
AUDIO: 9/10
I'd give this a 10, but the soundtrack doesn't have a very good soundtrack, so I just turn it off, plug in my MP3 and play what I want. Now the car sounds in this game are AMAZING, and as far as I know fairly realistic (though I've never actually heard a Lamborghini doing two hundred in an echoey tunnel). The engine doing overtime sounds very nice when the TV is cranked up pretty loud, and the brakes sound nice. There's not really an audio aspect that doesn't sound good/realistic in the whole game to the exception of the music.
GAMEPLAY: 9/10
Ah, gameplay, the cholesterol of a video game McDonald's burger. As stated before, I really like the idea of the blacklist bosses, and progressing through the whole thing. The races in the game are fresh and new. Thankfully, for the people like me, who don't like circuits, you don't have to do all of the races, although you have to take into consideration cop probability, length, and the type of race itself. The police chases are genius, the point is basically to set sort of "High scores" and beat other racers scores in things such as: roadblocks ran, pursuit length, and the like. There is a gameplay moment camera, which really shows off your car and adds more excitement when doing thin
Call of Duty 2
Awesome WWII Shooter!!! on August 07, 2007
Call of Duty 2 takes place in World War II, and takes you to three campaigns of the Russian, British and American. This is the 5th game of the series. This game is made by Activision for the XBox 360.
The gameplay for this game is awesome no doubt and keeps the experience going. This game can be hard or easy depending on your skill level but this isn't just a run and gun game it is like you are a soldier and you are running around looking for cover or destroying tanks. Online is awesome because you can run around with people killing other people and is very fun.
The game takes place in World War II. You go to American, British, and Russian campaigns trying to stop the German army from taking over. Your first mission is a training mission which is predictble and also teaches you the world of Call of Duty. The story also gives you a lot of history and you learn alot of things that you wouldn't in a normal history lesson. Also these people that you play as have been recognized war heros which adds authenticity. The story is just following the events of WWII.
The graphics are totally next gen and are awesome. It feels like you are in a real battlefield with bullets flying by. The soldiers look good and so does the guns. The people at activision have done an awesome job on all the graphics on the game. The sounds are also awesome as well compared to other war games.
This game has 4 difficult levels, Recruit, Veteran, Hard, and Normal. These add lots of replayability time. There is also Online play which you can spend hours on. You will definitely be playing this game for hours on end because this game is awesome. Try veteran mode if your a hotshot or just really good.
I recommend that you buy this game to the shooter fan in the house but like I always say you should rent it before you buy it unless its a birthday present. This game is sold at around $60 which is alot but this game is definitely worth it as I have stated above.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
The best game I have ever played on August 02, 2007
Ever since I heard about Oblivion last year (I know, long time after it came out. I knew it was for CPU but not 360), I have been extremely anxious to get my hands on it. The four-month delay really hurt, but on March 21st, I was finally sitting through my final hours at school ready to go get it. When I went to pick it up, the employee at the store told me he had had some time to play it, and that it was amazing. Arriving home, I shoved a couple slices of pizza in my mouth and ran upstairs to finally play The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. This is my review of what I saw:
For those of you who are not familiar with The Elder Scrolls franchise, I will start out with a short description. Bethesda, the developer, has created a game where you can live another life, in another world. In Elder Scrolls, you create a character, and then do whatever you want in the massive, Tolkien inspired world of Tamriel. Every ES game takes place in a different province of Tamriel, Oblivion in the main hub of Cyrodil. Be anybody you want to be, from the selfish thief to the noble warrior. Its an RPG, by any standard, but its also considered to be more of an open-ended action adventure, with a lot of RPG elements. More about Oblivion in the game play section.
Graphics:
Note: I play this game on a standard TV, not a hi def so this section may not apply to you. The graphics are, simply put, amazing. While I do think the 360 is capable of more, this is incredible considering how huge the game is. What Bethesda has done is made basic surfaces 2D instead of perfectly detailed 3D. This means that what really should be protruding (like when there are different layers of brick) is protruding, but basic things like bolts on doors are 2D. I know this sounds sort of last gen, but somehow Bethesda has made it look awesome. You wont even notice it unless you walk up and put your nose on it. For example, on a log house, the vertical and horizontal logs are separate and 3 dimensional, but the separate planes are actually just on a 2D plain, but detailed very well. Looking at anything from over 10 feet away makes it look extraordinary. Snow and rain looks great, and also adds to the mood of the game. Clouds in the sky are varied and realistic, and the water looks as good as real life. Character models are also very good, although obviously not as awesome as the environment. Humans look the best, and orcs look quite plain, although there are few of these in the game. Horse models are acceptable, although not the best that they could be. The third person view is a huge step up from Morrowind, although the jumping animation is terrible. Weapons are incredible. You may find yourself just stopping to look at how superbly detailed they are, and how cool they look. I give graphics a 9/10.
Sound:
I really do not consider sound to be a huge factor, but having good music and sound is a nice touch. And Oblivion has that. The opening theme sounds great. Its nothing I would have associated
Soulcalibur III
"So happy together..." on July 06, 2007
Good and evil. Who or what are they? Is the gallant knight in shining armor the epitome of all righteous idealism, or is it merely someone with unconquerable courage and willpower? Is there such a thing as a sanctimonious killer? Does stealing a loaf bread make a poor person bad? Is there such a thing as absolute good or evil, and if there were, would you know for certain? It's a bit hard to pin something down as unquestionably good or bad, as every aspect of our lives can be deemed relative. There are not merely two sides to every story, but a myriad of different viewpoints representing each and every person's perception of existence. Indeed, finding that fine line between good and evil is hard to find. Thankfully, Soul Calibur III makes the distinction crystal clear.
It's been years since the Soul Edge first appeared on the grand stage of life. Boasting incredible power, its allure has ensnared plenty of hosts to fulfill its evil bidding. A man named Siegfried once found the blade, and let its raw power consume his very soul. He became Nightmare, a monster with unparalleled skill, might, and a will to annihilate anything that stood in his path. However, Nightmare's reign of terror was not to be. In a struggle of epic proportions, Siegfried and Nightmare were split into two distinct beings, each half representing good and evil. While each side sought redemption or destruction, a new face has stepped into struggle for ultimate power. A warrior named Zasalamel desires the Soul Edge, intending to use it to end his eternal life. But now that the race for the mystical weapon has been revived, all of the world's greatest fighters have risen once again. With the fate of humanity balanced between good and evil, the Soul Edge is ready for the taking.
Fancy plot aside, Soul Calibur III is the latest installment in a critically acclaimed fighting game series. Unlike countless other 3D fighters out on the market, each character on its roster sports a different weapon and a corresponding fighting style. You'll be able to wield katanas, nunchakus, broadswords, rapiers, maces, axes, scythes, whips, and plenty of other sharp objects. All of these weapons require different strategies and gameplay options, offering rich and diverse movesets that will put your gaming skills and abilities to the test. Want to cut a few quick holes into someone? Xianghua's awesome swordplay will make mincemeat out of any foe. Feel like smashing a few skulls in? Astaroth's axe will get the job done nicely. With the majority of all the old characters coming back onto the battlefield, you'll have plenty an opportunity to find a fighter that will cater to your sadistic needs.
However, fans of the previous game won't be too thrilled with the initial lineup presented to them. Not only does this game have a far steeper learning curve than its predecessor, but it lacks a few features as well. Console fans will not find Team Battle, Link, Heihachi, Spawn, or Necrid in this game, som
